Project Description:
The NEALRC intends to continue a subcontract with CLASS to support their work in organizing and informing the field of K-12 teachers of Chinese. Past collaboration between NEALRC and CLASS has produced the development and publications of standards for K-12 Chinese and a set of recommendations for the certification of K-12 teachers of Chinese. This funding will (1) support the attendance of CLASS leadership at ACTFL, where they will conduct board meetings, plan new initiatives, and report on their projects; (2) develop Chinese teachers’ performance standards; (3) collect and distribute teaching resources. Foreign Language Publications will serve as distributor of sets of teaching materials and examples of best practices in K-12 teaching.
